Chateau de la Brede

The Château de La Brède, home of the writer and philosopher Charles Louis de Secondat, better known as Montesquieu, remained the property of the family until 2004. Built in the 14th century on the ruins of an older castle, the building underwent several alterations and improvements until the 19th century. The castle has retained its appearance of a medieval fortress and is reflected in the water of the wide moat. The interior discovery leads the visitor in the footsteps of the writer through the emblematic places where he worked, including his library and his room preserved in its 18th century state

Blaye

Located on the right bank of the Gironde estuary, Blaye boast of being the cradle of a great vineyard. Its wines are recognized worldwide. The citadel of Blaye is now listed as World Heritage by UNESCO. Admission is free and the site is always open. For guided tours of the fortress and its dungeons, we recommend you contact the Office of Tourism. To see only the citadel, the Office of Tourism offers the Great Game of the Citadel learning history fun. Sunsets on the largest estuary in Europe, ramparts, moats are gigantic!
